This is an reminder to all that all band members ( exclude quanmei and include of minhai) are involved in the christmas musical rally this coming christmas on 23rd December 2007. so...the rehersal dates have already being given to you all in advance. However, a request by Rain is that there will be additional rehersals for christmas on every sat. ( time wil be given to you all soon). Please be reminded also that to keep your schedule free on 15 and 16th Dec as its a very very important full-dress rehersal cum CD-recording day.. If any of the rehersals you guys cant make it, please inform us in advance.

Sorry guys but due to last min problem the jamming has been cancelled and date will be posted soon. For the next jamming session, we will be basically practicing for the 圣乐同乐日( "the sacred music Day") ..so the 2 songs as decided according to the meeting minutes will be "放下" and "mighty to save" ( i'm sure everyone have this song). so those who dont have chords, please download from the youth blog. We will be having the practice at the studio only for tomorrow, after which it will be in church.

Therefore there will be no jamming session today 8/9/07. Sorry for the last min cancellation.

Minor Update Follow-ups

Guys, we won't be worship leading for the elderly's lunch due to the space constrain of the stage. For the practise session, we will be practising most likely in my house due to english service not lending the drums anymore due to the complicated settings that they don't want to re-adjust.

I'll probably be getting a drum set next wednesday and maybe an amplifier. But we'll have to practise in the afternoon only due to noise and all that to prevent neighbour complains.

yo guys, long time no post =) check this song out, it's from the movie facing the giants. shown just last saturday, titled voice of truth, by casting crowns. think many of you might enjoy it, the lyrics in here talks about faith and listening to the voice of truth, many a times we lack faith and this song is pretty much what most people might be going through. a great song, maybe we could jam to it, score wise i'll do the finding if you guys are interested =) and comment on the taggy board about how you feel about the song =)

Following Events To Take Note Of

Hey guys! Long time no post~ Worship Nite was great and everything. But I have more news and events for us. I have been notified that our band will be playing for Christmas. The upcoming Music Event held by church will be around september so we must start practising for that soon too. One unconfirmed thing is whether we will be playing for the elderly during their lunch. All in all, we have 2 confirmed and 1 unconfirmed events added to our list.

a brief summary of today's meeting

1. Admin issues

continue to use blog and sms as form of communication

2. financial issues

since no funds is given yet, jamming will be in church in preparation for the worship nitez as most of us are kinda of involved in it. Jamming will not be in Alvro studios until further noticed

3. Drums
Received notice from Eng Service - Elder Samuel Tan that borrowing of electric drums for worship nite (WN) use is being rejected. will look to borrow drums from Thai service
Will cfm whether they allow the borrowing by this week

4. New members

No new members will be added. Newest member is disheng

5. Roles

Guitarists ( lead and backup depends on songs) : Minquan and Isaac Lim
Bassist : Shijia

Hi guys, just to remind you all that there will not be any jamming sessions this sat. However, please take note that there will be a short band meeting this sunday.

There are mainly 3 major things that we're gonna do,

1) Worship Nite
2) Music Month
3) Serve once/2 months at 12:30pm service

All of the above are self-voluntary, so if you think you can't or don't have the calling to do any of the above 3, please tell me in advance ya?

Also, we'll be having a small Psalmists meeting this sunday (22nd April). We will mainly talk about our problems encountered, our role, instruments improvisations, the ppl who don't wanna serve in any of the 3 things we're doing, etc. The meeting will be held after 12:30 service, I hope all band members (only) can make it.

As for this saturday (21st April), I'm thinking of having a free-for-all jamming session instead. We can jam any songs we like, not restricted to any genre. But I need to see if the majority can make it anot. (Suggested by Lim) However, make sure you keep 28th April free, I hope to have another serious session there.

Please take note of all these and msg me regarding the required.

Juz a brief reminder for the previous post, this sat (14th April) at alvron studios. The time has been changed to 2pm - 4pm, so please take note. Also, we will start to prepare songs for worship nite. Some songs have been chosen by me but is yet to be validated with the rest of the WN commitee. For WN, Quan Mei will tentatively be the keyboardist and Lee Wei will be the vocalist. I may invite one more keyboardist in the time to come for WN. If I'm not wrong, Preacher Willy will also be coming down the studio. So this sat will be kinda important, therefore try to be 10 mins earlier or something.

As for the vocal lessons, only 2 person are interested. I'll make the date line 1st June. So around 2 months for you to decide.

14th April & a few things

Guys, please make sure that you keep 14th april free as it will be one of the more important jamming sessions and we will be discussing about worship nite songs also. I've scrapped the previous song for presentation already, I think Stained Glass Masquerade by Casting Crows will be better since the vocal range is not as tough. I've made my own custom scores for it with the original key and everything, so this time it won't go wrong. I've sent the soft copy to some of the members ytd who was online on msn.

Finally, many of us had agreed on our band name "The Psalmists" so we'll stick on that. The logo design if you got any ideas can send it to me or isaac wong as he will be doing the design. There won't be any jamming this week though. If possible, try to make all sats 2 to 4pm free so that I can set a standard jamming timetable where everyone could make it.

For the vocalists, after a few more sessions and if you wanna attend vocal lessons, please tell me asap, cos I wanna discuss the tenor part of some songs.

Vocal Lessons

Guys, I have a friend who is involved in vocal lessons and she gave me the info about it yesterday. Anyone of you interested can contact me. I need to gather people to be able to form a grp for cheaper charge.

Location: United House (Beside Istana)

The teachers there are quite good and I've seen the vocalist produced there before, the quality not bad. Faster sign up! Vocal training good for everyone! Song leaders, vocalist and even lead guitarist and keyboardist may need to have vocal training. Consult your parents about it and sms/msn me about it ok? Thanks!

No Jamming This Week

Guys, I guess you have all received my sms; there's no jamming this week coz I got something on. Meanwhile, I think we ought to improve our instruments quality. Maybe you can try going online for extra resources or go for some classes if you think you need. If there is nothing on, we will be having jamming next week.

Our jamming team will be in-charge of the music night event this year too and also will be performing one song on the music month service(dec). So we have to prepare songs for both ya? As for the service performance in dec, I am thinking of performing "Jesus take the wheel" by Carrie Underwood. I may be recruiting another vocalist and keyboardist for that. Meantime, we should concentrate on the music night, for that after the songs were selected we may jam more often if needed.

Yo guys! Just to remind you folks that there will be jamming this sat (24th March) and we will be meeting at 1:30pm in church to discuss the songs b4 going.

Most likely we will be revising the 2 songs we jammed 2 weeks ago and move on to 2 more.

Guys, because majority of the people cannot make it, the session this coming sat will be cancelled. If nothing goes wrong, it will resume next sat.

I happened to come upon this vid and think its kinda funny, baby can jam so can you! Hahahaha! =)

Hey guys, I think we did pretty well this week and pretty much some progress have been made already. ;) The 2 songs we practiced seemed to work well but I think those 2 songs need to be more well planned and practiced in the future. We will bring the jamming time earlier to 1pm this coming sat (17th March) due to the bowling at 4pm. At the meantime, if you're free at home or anything juz bring up the instruments you're playing and try to improve on it or think of how to play better so that we can make more progress as we go along ya? And I'm also thinking about this format for our sessions for a more fruitful outcome:

1) Practice 2 or 3 chosen songs.
2) Don't get distracted by the song hurdles and play random songs in the end.
3) Keep giving suggestion and comments during the session as we play along.
4) If you're unsure about any part of the song, juz voice out and we'll try to help you get over the hurdle.

10th March

Hi guys, just a reminder, we'll be having our jamming session this sat (7th march) at 2pm. Remember to bring the $28 if you haven't pay up, for people who are not working or in poly may request to pay $20 if you can't afford. Just to summarise wad wong said, if for instance, everyone (8) pay $28, we don't have to pay for 8 sessions which is around 2 and a half months. If everyweek you save up ard $6 - 7 you should be able to save up to $28 by the time we have to pay again.

Anyway, we have to meet at church at 1:30pm to discuss the songs we're planning to play and etc. As for the logo, I don't really want the gum logo to be there since I initially wanted this band to be an individual church group.

erm..for the members funds issue ya...$28 is most probably per 2 mths..since we haf 6 members...and the jam session per half hr is being reduced from $6/0.5 hr.....i think should probably be okie..bah.we will see hw things goes..cos if we are able to get drums or sth..can jam in church..jam session at the studio will stop..so hopefully we get drums....lar..:) cheers...proposal is kinda of ready for submission..so pray for the approval process ya..

Amenment made to members fees

Dear all,

This is an announcement all members of GPC-Jam team. W.e.f from 3rd Mar 2007, our Jam Team is renamed to GUM-Beach Warmers. For members list, the following are permenant members..they are Jeremy, Isaac Lim, MinQuan, Shijia, Isaac Wong & Corrine. For the members funds, basically, after discussion...perm members are to pay $28 per member. Funds will be collected at the beginning of the mth..and since we jammed 3 times a mth..members will be told when to pay when there is not enuff funds..
For instance..Jeremy,isaac lim, Isaac wong pay for mar..the rest will pay for april and suff.tad is if we jam 3 times a mth..

For temporary members, you do not need to pay but for loaning of equipments, you gotta to pay for the costs..

So the next jamming session will be this sat..time to be confirmed again..as we discussed the previous session..130pm meet in church...other details will be confirmed again..

Jamming sessions resumed

New year hols is about over and jamming sessions will be resuming starting this sat (3rd March). Hopefully all of you can make it. Please tell me at least 2 days in advance if you cannot make it and remember to bring enough cash ($20 at least) for the funds per month. Also, the time we're jamming haven't been confirmed but I will set it at 2pm tentatively. If there is anything you want me to clarify like the fundings and stuff you can ask me anytime ya? Oh ya, and we're thinking of doing jamming for around 3 times a week too, on a regular basis and time.

Lim suggested "Bench Warmers" for the band name, I think it's ok but you can give me more suggestions if you think otherwise ya? I'll be putting up our band name and logo soon when everyone is ok with everything.

yo..enjoyed your CNY holidays? okie..nw for details on collection of funds..i'm sure all of us have collected hong pao $$ during the CNY right? so funds will be collected on the next jam session..date and time to be confirmed.remember to pay the amt u are supposed to pay (*it depends whether u are a temp or perm member)..we need the money to keep the band goin..at least some cash to start with ya..stay tune for further updates..

What are you aiming for?

I'm pretty sure that improving our music to glorify God is the way to aim for and we all would very much like to improve our music standards right? These are two very famous songs we frequently play but I hope to improve the way and style we play. Ignore those worshipers, just look at how the band organise their music and when to bring in. We don't have to follow them 100%, but we can have our own unique style too ya? These are some references I hope we can all achieve by the end of this year or even better. ;)

Information as at 14th feb 2007

Cost for jamming @ studio

3 weeks x $8.50/.5 hrs = $144

Collection of funds from tem and perm members will be as follow:

Permenant members rate : $20/each
Expected funds for perm members: $20 x6 = $120

Temporary members rate : $10/each
Expected funds for temporary members: $10 x 5 = $50

Expected funds ( Total) : $170

Note that the collection is for the rental of studio and probably the purchase of drum set.

* Remember to prepare cash for payment. Date for collection of funds will be made known at a further time.

Guys, I really need to get the logo and name for our jamming team by the following week cos' I have to submit everything when I apply for membership.

I'm thinking for our name how about "Jukebox" or something cheesy. And the logo maybe an eagle or something? I need ideas man, guys! Give me your opinions!

Anyway, just a reminder, there will be no jamming for the next two weeks and we will be continuing on the first sat in march. And we have to start collecting funds and stuff already for the jamming fee. Wong already calculated everything and I will be showing you guys how the funds are split etc when we collect funds ya? I know you hate paying but we have no choice, we have to pay for the booking of the room. =/

Postponed session

The jamming session I proposed to be on 17th feb is postponed due to it falling on chinese new year eve. 24th feb I heard that we will be doing new year visiting? Ya, so sadly our sesson will be postponed for 2 weeks. At the meantime, I set the date tentatively at 3rd March (sat). Please leave 2pm to 5/6pm on all sats if possible free so that we can have weekly sessions.

Meanwhile I hope these things could be done in this 2 weeks:
1) A name for our jamming group so that we have a unique identity and I can submit it to alvron.
2) Design a logo to represent us (for alvron submission too)
3) A good suitable blog template to replace this current default one.
4) Confirm with me the time and date you'll always be free in a week so that I can draw up a jamming schedule for you guys.
5) Print out the remaining songs, find more songs and get a file to compile all the songs.

If you cannot find me online just sms me or give me a buzz! I'm not a man eating monster alright, just call me to inquire anything you need to know.

You guys can leave a tag voting for the "song of the month" to be on the site. I've also uploaded a few song chords and lyrics to the song section. If you have more of them you're welcome to send them to me for uploads.

Edit: Ok, I've found out why there are problems opening the files. It's cos yahoo is being irritating and disabled free users to enable sharing of files. But you can access my files if you're a yahoo member so ya, go sign up to get access to the songs. If that doesn't work I'll try to find another better site to upload them.

My tests will all be ending at 14th Feb (wed) which means jamming sessions will be on from 17th Feb onwards (sat). Can you guys give me the time slot that you're free at so that I can put a continuous jamming schedule?

Tentatively it'll be on 17th Feb, 2pm. sms/msn me to confirm or something.
